What are HTML meta tags?
Meta tags are descriptive data relating to the content of a page. Meta tags tell us things about the document, such as the title of a page, the meta description or the author of the page.
Meta tags can also be used to specify the (charset) encoding of a page. Many of the meta tags used are for example the location of the style sheet, where the formatting and layout of a page is specified, or the location of the favorite icon or shortcut icon.
